We offer wooden, vinyl, and fiberglass arbors and pergolas. We do however recommend fiberglass.
Why Fiberglass?
Long life and exceptional appearance
Fiberglass-reinforced composites are naturally corrosion resistant. They will not rust, corrode or pit regardless of the environment in which they are installed. Our fiberglass components hold paint extremely well, and because fiberglass in non-porous they will not absorb moisture - the number one cause of cracking and peeling. Components may be painted on site prior to installation, or painted standard white or with a custom color from the factory prior to shipment.
Strength
Fiberglass beams can span longer distances than wood or vinyl. Unlike wood, their strength-to-weight ratio keeps them from sagging under their own weight. Unlike vinyl, they are unaffected be variations in the temperature and will not sag in hot climates. Pound for pound, the light weight fiberglass-reinforced components are stronger than steel. They will not twist, warp or bow after installation, and they maintain their full strength over the life of the product.
A smart investment
Over the life of the arbor or pergola, the durability and weather resistance of fiberglass components are virtually maintenance free and will provide many years or enjoyment. They also have a limited lifetime warranty.
The manufacture of these products are also a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, and is committed to the expansion of environmentally green and efficient building materials.
Using composites means less negative impacts to the forest or ecological system.
Their lightweight requires less energy to transport the product.
Composite materials last longer than traditional materials ( wood ) and do not have to be replaced which means a longer life cycle.
Wood is treated with chemicals to extend its life. These chemicals leach into the ground and can negatively effect the water table. »
